Job description Locums to Perm – Dallas, TX | Associate Medical Director (Family Medicine)

Assignment: 13-week locum with intent to transition to permanent Schedule: Fully remote during locums ? Hybrid upon permanent hire Employment Type: W2 only (No 1099, no visa sponsorship)

Role Overview

The Associate Medical Director will provide hands-on clinical leadership supporting utilization management, medical policy development, pharmacy coordination, fraud/waste oversight, and managed care quality initiatives.

This is a leadership-focused, managed care position — not a traditional clinical practice role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review prior authorizations & appeals (medical necessity determinations)

  • Conduct peer-to-peer reviews

  • Oversee utilization, disease, and quality management programs

  • Assist in pharmacy benefit oversight

  • Support fraud, waste & abuse programs

  • Participate in policy development (evidence-based guidelines)

  • Analyze provider performance & conduct reviews

  • Assist with regulatory representation (Texas agencies)

  • Process improvement & operational oversight

  • Committee participation & leadership

Requirements (Strict – No Exceptions)
  • Board Certified in Family Medicine (or relevant specialty)

  • Active Texas Medical License (IMLC not accepted; must already hold TX license)

  • Managed care & prior authorization experience required

  • Clean malpractice & license history

  • No lapsed board certifications

Preferred
  • Participation in managed care UM committee

  • Strong leadership & supervisory experience

Skills Needed
  • Knowledge of Texas Medicaid regulations

  • Managed care delivery model expertise

  • Experience with population health & value-based care

  • Pharmacy & behavioral health familiarity

  • Strong executive communication skills

  • Ability to apply medical expertise to business & quality outcomes
