Texas Pathology Job Details

• Location: Harlingen, TX 78550 (South Texas healthcare jobs)
• Setting: Hospital-based Pathology Department
• Employment Type: Locum Tenens Physician (Travel/Contract)
• Duration: 13 weeks, with potential extension
• Start Date: ASAP
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm; on-call after hours, weekends, and holidays
• Shift Duration: 12-hour shifts as needed
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $6,350–$7,520

Pathologist Qualifications

• Board Certification in Pathology (MD required)
• Minimum 1 year experience in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology
• Fellowship training in Pathology preferred
• Expertise in Gynecologic/Surgical Pathology highly desired
• Ability to interpret and perform bone marrow aspirates and biopsies
• Strong skills in cytology (GYN and Non-GYN), autopsy (forensic and non-forensic), and frozen section grossing
• Experience in hematology, microbiology, chemistry/serology, and blood bank preferred
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Pathology Physician Responsibilities

• Deliver expert diagnostic services in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology
• Specialize in surgical pathology: GI, GU, neuropathology, dermatopathology, and pediatric tumor pathology
• Perform and interpret bone marrow aspirates and biopsies
• Conduct cytology evaluations, including fine needle aspirations (FNAs)
• Participate in autopsy procedures (forensic and non-forensic)
• Gross and cut frozen sections as needed
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure high-quality patient care
• Provide on-call coverage after hours, weekends, and holidays
