Job Information:

Job Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive medical care, including exams, diagnosis, treatment, prescribing medications, follow up care, and performing minor (and occasional major) surgical procedures.
• Lead and oversee the medical program, collaborating with the Health Services Supervisor and directing unit treatment operations.
• Monitor quality of care and clinical operations, including reviewing standards of care, auditing medical files, evaluating services for efficiency, and preventing inappropriate or duplicate services.
• Conduct patient assessments, including interviews, admission decisions, clinical rounds, and close monitoring of hospitalized or high risk inmates/residents.
• Participate in care planning, including treatment team meetings, developing and reviewing individualized health plans, and supporting nursing specialists with diagnostics and treatment guidance.
• Ensure clear communication and collaboration with facility staff, nursing teams, contracted providers, outside agencies, administrators, and patients/residents.
• Maintain documentation and records, preparing and reviewing reports, ensuring proper processing of documents, and preserving confidentiality and security of all medical records.
• Support policy and accreditation efforts, assisting with medical program policy development and ensuring compliance with NCCHC/ACA/JCAHO standards.
• Supervise, motivate, and guide staff, defining responsibilities, facilitating meetings, promoting effective communication, and ensuring consistent operations across shifts.
• Perform administrative and professional duties, including attending required seminars and trainings, participating in on call rotations, and providing health counseling and education.

License: TN license, DEA, BC, and BLS
