Position Summary
The Physician provides high-quality primary care services while supporting care coordination, quality oversight, and clinical policy implementation across clinic and/or hospital settings. This role collaborates closely with interdisciplinary teams, administration, and community partners to ensure safe, effective, and culturally respectful patient care.
Job Responsibilities
Clinical & Care Coordination
Provide high-quality primary care services in clinic and/or hospital settings
Coordinate medical care within the facility to ensure appropriate and adequate services
Support day-to-day implementation of patient care policies
Assist in arranging continuous physician coverage for medical emergencies
Participate in the development and implementation of emergency treatment procedures
Quality & Oversight
Participate in quality improvement and quality-of-care review activities
Evaluate patterns, efficiency, appropriateness, and quality of care; report concerns as needed
Review accident and incident reports and identify health or safety risks
Make recommendations regarding patient care services, staffing adequacy, and medical equipment
Long-Term Care Support (as assigned)
Assist in coordinating medical services in long-term care settings
Consult with administration regarding the facility’s ability to meet patients’ medical, physical, and psychosocial needs
Collaborate with attending providers to ensure timely written orders and appropriate follow-up care
Policy, Leadership & Collaboration
Participate in the development of medical, nursing, admissions, and discharge policies
Serve as a medical representative of the facility within the community
Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams
Qualifications
Education
MD or DO from an accredited medical school
Training & Experience
Completion of an accredited residency program
Board Eligible or Board Certified in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or other approved specialty
Licensure & Certification
Current Alaska physician license (MD or DO), or eligibility to practice under another state license as permitted by Alaska statute
Skills

Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
Ability to follow policies, procedures, and clinical standards
