Job description This part-time Physician opportunity offers Friday evening and Saturday coverage in an outpatient primary care setting known for its collaborative, mission-driven approach to care. Providers may work at one or both clinic locations in San Juan Capistrano and Lake Forest, depending on scheduling needs. The role focuses on delivering thoughtful, patient-centered primary care in an FQHC, alongside a supportive multidisciplinary team and includes premium compensation rates.

Job Responsibilities

Provide high-quality, patient-centered outpatient primary care for acute and chronic medical conditions.

Perform comprehensive medical evaluations, including histories, physical exams, diagnoses, and treatment planning.

Utilize evidence-based guidelines to deliver safe, effective, and cost-conscious care.

Educate patients on diagnoses, medications, treatment options, and preventive care.

Prescribe, manage, and reconcile medications in accordance with clinical standards and protocols.

Order, interpret, and follow up on laboratory tests and diagnostic studies appropriately.

Make timely and appropriate referrals to specialty care and coordinate follow-up services.

Manage and respond to patient messages, medication refill requests, and clinical inquiries in a timely manner.

Collaborate closely with nurse practitioners, registered nurses, medical assistants, and other interdisciplinary team members.

Provide clinical consultation and support to advanced practice providers as designated, assuming responsibility for patient care when appropriate.

Support nursing staff in direct patient care activities, including medication administration and diagnostic procedures.

Maintain efficient clinic workflows and support patient flow during Friday evening and Saturday coverage.

Deliver care with empathy, professionalism, and respect to promote a positive patient experience.

Support patient engagement, satisfaction initiatives, and quality improvement efforts.

Participate in peer review, quality assurance, and performance improvement activities.

Serve as a clinical leader and role model within the care team.

Attend department meetings, trainings, and professional development activities as required.

Complete clear, accurate, and timely clinical documentation and coding.

Close clinical encounters in accordance with established protocols and compliance standards.

Adhere to all clinical policies, regulatory requirements, and professional practice standards.

Qualifications

Required:
Education: Doctor of Medicine Degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree
Experience / Training: A minimum of two years of experience in a primary care setting
License / Certification: Board certified primary care physician; valid and current California Medical license, DEA number and BLS certification
Preferred:
Experience / Training: Prior experience in a community health center; bilingual (English/Spanish)

Working Hours

Friday Evenings: 5-9pm
Saturdays: 8am - 5pm
