Job description
We’re seeking an FM/IM physician (geriatrics welcome) for a low-stress, weekday post-acute/SNF assignment in the Pinehurst/Fayetteville area.
This is a strong fit for physicians who want a manageable pace, team-based support, and a Medical Director-style leadership role.
Job Responsibilities
Manageable daily census: typically 15–20 patients/day
Support is built in: work alongside on-site APPs and an interdisciplinary team (including Psychiatry/Psychotherapy support where available)
No clinic grind: focus is oversight, coordination, and medication management (not high-volume throughput)
8-hour guarantee each day (even when you finish early)
Qualifications
Board certified/board eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine (Geriatrics welcome)
Active North Carolina medical license, or ability to obtain quickly
Comfortable practicing in a post-acute/SNF environment
Able to provide Medical Director-style clinical leadership: oversight, coordination, med management, and collaboration with APPs/interdisciplinary team
Strong documentation and communication skills; comfortable with transitions of care
Clean background and dependable availability
Available for a weekday (Mon–Fri) schedule for a 3-month locums term, with openness to convert to perm at a higher rate
Working Hours
Hours: 8-hour guarantee each day
Typical day: daytime coverage (no overnight shifts)
Weekends: none
Call: none
Skills
Medication management and reconciliation (polypharmacy oversight)
Care coordination and transitions of care (admissions, follow-ups, discharge planning)
Clinical leadership supporting the facility team and APPs
Collaboration with nursing, APPs, and interdisciplinary partners
Strong documentation skills and comfort with facility charting requirements
Ability to manage a manageable daily census comfortably (typically 15–20/day) with an easy-to-navigate workflow and strong support
Sound judgment for escalation decisions and appropriate transfer criteria
Clear communication with patients, families, and facility staff
Professionalism, reliability, and comfort working independently in a structured environment
Quality-focused mindset (risk reduction and minimizing avoidable readmissions)
