This is a strong fit for physicians who want a manageable pace, team-based support, and a Medical Director-style leadership role.

Job Responsibilities

Why this role is easy

Manageable daily census: typically 15–20 patients/day

Support is built in: work alongside on-site APPs and an interdisciplinary team (including Psychiatry/Psychotherapy support where available)

No clinic grind: focus is oversight, coordination, and medication management (not high-volume throughput)

8-hour guarantee each day (even when you finish early)

Qualifications

MD or DO

Board certified/board eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine (Geriatrics welcome)

Active North Carolina medical license, or ability to obtain quickly

Comfortable practicing in a post-acute/SNF environment

Able to provide Medical Director-style clinical leadership: oversight, coordination, med management, and collaboration with APPs/interdisciplinary team

Strong documentation and communication skills; comfortable with transitions of care

Clean background and dependable availability

Available for a weekday (Mon–Fri) schedule for a 3-month locums term, with openness to convert to perm at a higher rate

Working Hours

Schedule: Monday–Friday

Hours: 8-hour guarantee each day

Typical day: daytime coverage (no overnight shifts)

Weekends: none

Call: none

Skills

Post-acute/SNF workflow familiarity (or strong willingness to learn quickly)

Medication management and reconciliation (polypharmacy oversight)

Care coordination and transitions of care (admissions, follow-ups, discharge planning)

Clinical leadership supporting the facility team and APPs

Collaboration with nursing, APPs, and interdisciplinary partners

Strong documentation skills and comfort with facility charting requirements

Ability to manage a manageable daily census comfortably (typically 15–20/day) with an easy-to-navigate workflow and strong support

Sound judgment for escalation decisions and appropriate transfer criteria

Clear communication with patients, families, and facility staff

Professionalism, reliability, and comfort working independently in a structured environment

Quality-focused mindset (risk reduction and minimizing avoidable readmissions)
