TinkBird Healthcare Staffing is seeking an experienced, Board-Certified Family Medicine Physician (MD or DO) to serve as Associate Program Director for a Family Medicine Residency Program at an independent, community-based hospital in North Carolina.
This is a unique opportunity to combine academic leadership, resident mentorship, and clinical practice in a mission-driven environment focused on training physicians to serve rural and underserved populations. Experience is required for this role, including prior core faculty and inpatient/outpatient practice experience.

Schedule & Structure
Approximately 80% Teaching / 20% Clinical
1 day per week: Direct outpatient patient care
4 days per week: Resident supervision, teaching, and administrative leadership
Hospital Service:
1 week per month supervising the inpatient Family Medicine service
Practice Settings:
Outpatient continuity clinic
Hospital-based teaching service

Associate Program Director Responsibilities
Mentor, guide, and support residents in clinical and academic settings
Participate in and oversee curriculum development in compliance with ACGME standards
Assist with residency recruitment, interviews, and resident selection
Support the Program Director in maintaining accreditation, quality, and strategic direction
Promote resident well-being, professional development, and compassionate care delivery
Teach through clinical precepting and didactic instruction
Maintain active clinical practice consistent with ACGME requirements
Required Qualifications
This role requires prior experience.
Board Certified in Family Medicine (ABFM or AOBFP)
Core Faculty experience required
Eligible for unrestricted medical staff privileges in North Carolina
Recent inpatient and outpatient experience
Comfortable with obstetrics, joint injections, and dermatologic procedures
Working knowledge of ACGME accreditation standards
Demonstrated academic or scholarly activity (publications, curriculum development, research)
Strong leadership, communication, and mentorship skills
Commitment to community-based and rural medicine
