The Regional Chair of the Department of Family Medicine provides strategic and operational leadership for all departmental functions, fostering a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment that supports outstanding patient care, education, research, and service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and administrative oversight for the Department of Family Medicine.
  • Lead and support educational programs for medical students, residents, and faculty.
  • Promote and support scholarly activity, research, and academic productivity within the department.
  • Foster interdisciplinary collaboration to advance clinical, educational, and research excellence.
  • Mentor faculty and support faculty development, recruitment, and retention.

Allocation of Time:

  • Administrative: 50%
  • Clinical and Educational: 50% (variable based on departmental needs)

Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited medical school.
  • Board Certified by the American Board of Family Medicine with active participation in the continuing certification program.
  • Hold or be eligible to obtain an unrestricted medical license in the State of West Virginia.
  • Current academic appointment at the Associate Professor or Full Professor level.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of clinical practice experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of administrative leadership experience in an academic medical center or large healthcare system preferred.
