Amergis seeks a Primary Care Physician (Family Medicine or Internal Medicine) for a Locum Tenens assignment at South Central Correctional Facility in Clifton, TN. This premium position offers steady full-time hours in a secure, structured environment, providing direct patient care and medical leadership within the facility.
Job Responsibilities
Prescribe medications and develop treatment plans
Perform minor procedures; occasional major procedures if necessary
Lead and collaborate with the Health Services Supervisor and Nursing Specialists
Conduct clinical rounds and participate in treatment team meetings
Oversee standards of care and direct unit treatment operations
Review medical operations for efficiency and cost-effectiveness
Monitor hospitalizations; facilitate clinically appropriate early release
Maintain complete, confidential medical records and audit documentation
Support accreditation and compliance (NCCHC/ACA/JCAHO, where applicable)
Provide health education and counseling (individual/group)
Accept on-call status and attend required trainings/meetings
Qualifications
Licensed to practice medicine in Tennessee (or state of employment)
Board Certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or related field preferred
BLS certification (required)
1+ year of experience as a Primary Care Physician preferred
Current CPR (if applicable), TB screening (PPD/chest x-ray if applicable), health certificate per state/contract
Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements and professional standards
Must be 18+ years of age
Role may include collaboration with advanced practitioners per facility/state requirements
Working Hours
Duration: 26 weeks
Schedule: 40 hours/week
