Job Description:
This role involves delivering comprehensive primary care services to an incarcerated population in a correctional facility setting. The physician will conduct examinations, diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions, and manage preventive health initiatives. Responsibilities include prescribing medications, ordering diagnostic tests, and coordinating care with specialists when needed. The position requires adherence to professional standards and facility protocols while ensuring quality healthcare in a secure environment.
Job Responsibilities
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, lab work, and imaging studies.
• Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions.
• Prescribe medications and develop treatment plans.
• Provide health education and preventive care guidance to patients.
• Administer vaccinations and other preventive measures.
• Refer patients to specialists when necessary for advanced care.
• Maintain compliance with professional standards and facility protocols.
Qualifications
• Active New York State Medical License (required).
• Board Certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine (preferred).
• DEA registration and BLS certification.
• Minimum of 1 year correctional medicine experience or 2+ years of primary care experience preferred.
• Current CPR certification and TB screening as applicable.
• Ability to meet all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
