Adelphi is seeking physicians to provide services at a correctional facility in Bruceton Mills, West Virginia. The ideal candidates will provide comprehensive medical care to the inmate population, deliver diagnostic, preventive, and therapeutic care, supporting the institution's goal of effective and cost-contained healthcare.

Requirements:

  • MD/DO

  • Valid, unrestricted license in any U.S. state or territory

  • BLS

  • ACLS

  • Minimum 1 year of experience providing physician services in emergency, acute, ambulatory/outpatient, psychiatric, or surgical care.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three or more years of clinical experience.

  • Experience providing medical care in correctional settings.



Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive assessments and manage acute and chronic medical conditions.

  • Conduct physical, dental, and mental health examinations including suicide risk assessments.

  • Collaborate with other physicians and healthcare staff to manage complex cases.

  • Perform minor surgical procedures (e.g., suturing, incision and drainage, toenail removal).

  • Provide emergency care and life-saving interventions as needed.

  • Prescribe medications and treatments based on diagnostic impressions.

  • Order, interpret, and review diagnostic tests including lab results, X-rays, EKGs.

  • Maintain accurate documentation using the electronic medical records system.

  • Comply with all BOP policies and health services procedures.

  • Participate in daily sick calls, risk evaluations, and psychosocial screenings.

  • Function as part of a multidisciplinary primary care team.

  • Additional duties as assigned by facility.
