The John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, is seeking a forward-thinking and mission-driven physician to serve as Associate Chief of Staff (ACOS) for Primary Care. Job Responsibilities

The Associate Chief of Staff-Primary Care provides administrative, programmatic, and clinical leadership for Primary Care under the direction of the Chief of Staff to ensure achievement of the clinical goals. The specific locations assigned to this position and the specific staff will be identified by the Chief of Staff. The incumbent reports to the COS and serves as a key clinical resource for the Executive Leadership Team.

The incumbent is a board-certified physician with advanced clinical experience in Primary Care as well as demonstrated administrative and leadership skills.
The incumbent must have:
(1) Knowledge of the VA system and regulations.
(2) Knowledge of patient care management, processes, and systems.
(3) Computer skills and ability to use of a variety software packages.
(4) Knowledge of resources management and continuous quality improvement processes.
(5) Management experience with strong administrative and interpersonal skills.
(6) Excellent oral and written communications skills.
(7) Skill in providing clinical interface other key stakeholders.
(8) Skill in design of collection and analysis of data.

The responsibilities include hands on clinical work, oversight, and administration of all aspects of Primary Care. Is directly accountable to the COS for day- to-day administrative activities of the service, and accountable to the COS for clinical program activities and overall compliance to VISN wide policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Board certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine required.
Preferred Experience: 5 years VA experience, preferably in Primary Care and 3 years of supervision/management experience
