Join Our Team as a Locum Physician – General Medicine in New Mexico

We are seeking skilled General Medicine Providers to deliver essential Compensation and Pension (C&P) examinations and Separation Health Assessments across New Mexico. In this role, you will conduct interview-based assessments, including physical evaluations such as range of motion and muscle strength testing, primarily focusing on non-treatment, administrative examinations. The position requires providers to have their own office within a 50-mile radius of Silver City, Deming, Hobbs, or Grants, NM, performing exams two days per week in Silver City or Deming, one day per week in Hobbs, and half a day per week in Grants. You will be responsible for completing exams efficiently, submitting detailed reports, and participating in minimal post-exam administrative work.

Key Skills and Qualifications:
  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
  • Licensed to practice medicine in New Mexico.
  • Experience in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or general medicine.
  • Prior experience with compensation and pension exams or a background in administrative assessments is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to perform interview-based evaluations and basic physical assessments.

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Experience with Veterans’ health assessments.
  • Knowledge of legislative and procedural aspects of VA examinations.
  • Certification in relevant medical specialties or certifications related to physical assessment.

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Medical degree (MD or DO).
  • Active New Mexico medical license.
  • At least 2 years of clinical practice, preferably including experience in general medicine or administrative assessments.
  • Prior experience performing Compensation & Pension exams is a plus but not mandatory.

Other Requirements:
  • Own a qualified office within the specified radius.
  • Willingness to travel and work in various locations as scheduled.
  • Successfully complete credentialing and onboarding processes.
  • Commitment to deliver high-quality, timely examinations in accordance with VES standards.

Enjoy highly competitive pay rates of $800 for half-day (up to 4 hours), $1,600 for full-day (5+ hours), plus a one-time bonus of $650 for completing all necessary training and your first exams. Local candidates receive travel inclusion within rates.
