Join Our Team as a Locum - Physician - General Medicine Houston, TX

Are you a dedicated physician with a passion for serving Veterans and making a meaningful impact? We are seeking highly skilled General Medicine Providers to join our team on a flexible, temporary basis to perform Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments. This is a vital role supporting our nation's heroes, offering professional fulfillment and competitive compensation.

In this role, you'll conduct interview-based evaluations complemented by physical assessments, including range of motion and muscle strength testing. No prescribing or treatment is required. Excellent credentialing and onboarding processes ensure a quick transition into your responsibilities. Your expertise will help provide crucial assessments that support Veterans' benefits.

Required Skills:
  • Medical degree (MD or DO) in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, or related general medicine fields
  • Current medical license to practice in the state of Texas
  • Experience with or willingness to perform compensation and pension evaluations
  • Strong clinical assessment skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to work independently and adhere to guidelines

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Prior experience in Veterans’ healthcare or benefit evaluations
  • Knowledge of CPT coding or medical report writing
  • Ability to perform physical assessments and tests

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Medical degree from an accredited institution
  • At least 1-2 years of clinical practice in general medicine
  • Experience performing assessments or evaluations for benefit claims is a plus

Other Requirements:
  • Local candidates only; travel expenses included in rates
  • Availability to work starting February 2, 2026
  • Able to perform both half-day (4 hours) and full-day (8 hours) shifts
  • Commitment to completing required training and first exams to qualify for bonus
  • No reimbursement for certifications or portal training prior to start

Compensation & Benefits:
  • Hourly rate: $624.00
  • Flat rate of $800 for half-day (4-hour) exams
  • Flat rate of $1,600 for full-day (8-hour) exams
  • One-time bonus of $650 upon completion of all required training and first exams
  • Weekly pay schedule via direct deposit
