In this position, you will conduct Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments across various VA facilities and private offices throughout California. You will perform interview-based evaluations complemented by physical assessments such as range of motion and muscle strength testing, with no prescribing or treatment responsibilities. The role is ideal for professionals experienced in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or those familiar with compensation and pension processes. Flexibility is key, as you can work on a PRN basis, with options for half-day or full-day shifts.

Required Skills:
- Medical degree (MD or DO) with current California medical license
- Board certification or equivalent in family medicine, internal medicine, or related fields
- Experience with physical assessments and interview-based exams
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently within the specified geographic radius
- Comfortable completing exams without the need for treatment responsibilities
Nice to Have Skills:
- Prior experience with compensation and pension evaluations
- Familiarity with VA protocols and procedures
- Basic knowledge of diagnostic reading and report writing
- Certification in relevant specialties or additional training in outpatient exam procedures
Preferred Education and Experience:
- MD or DO from an accredited institution
- At least 1 year of clinical experience in general medicine or equivalent
- Prior experience conducting VA-related assessments preferred but not mandatory
Other Requirements:
- Must reside within 50 miles of specified locations; exceptions considered for particularly rural areas
- Willingness to perform exams at VA facilities or in own office locations
- Ability to complete exams on a PRN basis, with flexible scheduling
- Participation in training and onboarding to meet certification standards
- No travel reimbursement for preparatory training or certification
