Join Our Team as a Locum Physician - General Medicine – Houston, TX

This role offers a unique chance to perform essential Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments on a PRN basis, allowing you to make a meaningful difference while enjoying a flexible schedule.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct one-time non-treatment C&P exams and separation health assessments.
  • Perform primarily interview-based evaluations, including physical assessments such as range of motion and muscle strength testing.
  • Complete exams efficiently within allotted timeframes, with no prescribing or treatment involved.
  • Submit detailed reports and addendums promptly to support veterans’ claims.
  • Utilize your expertise in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or general medicine, including experience with compensation and pension processes.
  • Work independently with your own office location (Peru, IL – 1 day per week needed), leveraging quick credentialing and onboarding.

Required Skills:
  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
  • Valid state medical license for Texas or the ability to obtain one.
  • Experience in general medicine, family medicine, internal medicine, or related fields.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interview-based evaluations.
  • Ability to perform physical assessments such as range of motion testing and muscle strength evaluation.
  • Familiarity with VA procedures related to Compensation & Pension exams or a background in similar assessments.

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Prior experience with VA exams or military service assessments.
  • Certification in specific assessment techniques.
  • Comfort working independently in a private practice setting.
  • Knowledge of medical documentation standards for VA claims.

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • MD or DO degree with at least 2 years of clinical experience.
  • Previous experience with VA or military-related medical evaluations preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage administrative tasks related to exam documentation.

Other Requirements:
  • Ability to work PRN, on days needed, with flexible scheduling (½ or full-day shifts).
  • Local candidates preferred; travel expenses are included in the rate.
  • Valid certifications and licensure in good standing.
  • Willingness to participate in training and complete onboarding efficiently.
  • No reimbursement for certifications or portal training prior to start.
