Join Our Team as a Locum Physician - General Medicine VA and Make a Difference for Our Veterans
Are you an experienced healthcare professional looking for a flexible and impactful opportunity? Veterans Evaluation Services (VES), a Maximus company, is seeking dedicated General Medicine Providers to conduct Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments across various locations in Virginia. This role offers a unique chance to serve those who served our nation while enjoying competitive pay and flexible scheduling.
In this pivotal position, you'll perform primarily interview-based assessments, focusing on non-treatment evaluations such as range of motion testing and muscle strength assessments. No prescribing or treatment responsibilities are involved. Providers must have their own office setup and be available to work on a PRN basis, with shifts ranging from half-day (4 hours) to full-day (8 hours). The work is primarily day shifts, with an immediate start date of December 31, 2025.

Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Valid medical license in Virginia
- Background in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, or related fields
- Experience with compensation and pension exams preferred
- Strong interviewing skills with attention to detail
- Ability to perform basic physical assessments such as range of motion testing and muscle strength evaluation
- Excellent organizational skills and reliability
Nice to Have Skills:
- Prior experience conducting VA Compensation & Pension evaluations
- Familiarity with VA healthcare protocols
- Ability to work independently in a remote setup
- Comfortable with administrative tasks such as report submission and addendums
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Medical degree (MD or DO)
- Proven experience in general medicine or military/veteran-related medical assessments
- At least 2 years of clinical practice
Other Requirements:
- Own office space in designated locations (Coeburn, Covington, Hillsville, Charlottesville, VA)
- Willingness to work PRN on a flexible schedule
- Ability to complete required training and exams promptly
Compensation:
- Hourly rate of $624.00, with flat rates of $800 for half-day shifts and $1,600 for full-day shifts
- One-time completion bonus of $650
- Travel and licensure reimbursements when applicable
- Weekly pay schedule via direct deposit
- Comprehensive medical benefits and paid sick leave in accordance with applicable laws
