Join Our Team as a Locum Physician – General Medicine NC

Are you a dedicated general medicine physician seeking flexible, impactful work serving those who have served our nation? Veterans Evaluation Services (VES), a Maximus company and trusted government contractor, is looking for knowledgeable and committed providers to perform Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments nationwide. This is a unique opportunity to contribute directly to veteran care while enjoying flexible scheduling and competitive compensation.

In this role, you will conduct interview-based assessments and physical evaluations, including range of motion and muscle strength testing, without prescribing or providing treatment. The work supports U.S. veterans through essential evaluations, with a focus on efficiency and professionalism.

Required Skills
  • Medical license in North Carolina
  • Board-certified or eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
  • Experience with general medicine and physical assessments
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently within your own office environment
  • Familiarity with assessment documentation and report submission processes

Nice to Have Skills
  • Prior experience with Compensation & Pension evaluations
  • Background in orthopedic surgery or related specialties
  • Comfort with administrative tasks such as addendums and medical opinions
  • Knowledge of veteran-specific assessment procedures

Preferred Education and Experience
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in family or internal medicine
  • Experience with assessments or evaluations for veteran or military populations preferred

Other Requirements
  • Providers must have their own office location within specified radius areas
  • Willingness to work PRN, with flexible scheduling on a part-time basis
  • Completion of required training and initial exams bonus available upon onboarding
  • Local candidates only; travel is included in the pay rates
  • Availability to start on March 6, 2026

Compensation
  • Hourly Rate: $624.00
  • Flat Rate for Half-Day (4 hours or less): $800
  • Flat Rate for Full-Day (5+ hours): $1,600
  • One-time Training & First Exams Bonus: $650
