Position Summary

Provides comprehensive and quality primary health care services for outpatients at the Medical Center. Reports directly to the Medical Director on clinical matters and activities related to the provision of medical care. Primary care physicians are expected to be familiar with the Center's philosophy, goals, and objectives and to work collaboratively to achieve them. They must be aware of and comply with all Center policies and procedures, as well as applicable state and federal regulations. Primary care physicians provide the full scope of primary care services, which fall within their scope of training, including but not limited to diagnosis, treatment, care coordination, follow-up and monitoring, accompaniment of care preventive, maintenance of health and health risk of their assigned patients.

  • Obtain health history and perform physical examinations.
  • Diagnose and direct counseling for each patient on a plan for treatment.
  • Prescribe medication in accordance with Florida statute and professional practice guidelines.
  • Maintains a problem oriented health record for each patient seen in accordance with the Center’s established Health Information Management policies and procedures.
  • Assures continuity of care by providing comprehensive medical services on a timely basis as per Clinic schedule within the Center’s scope of practice and the provider’s training.
  • Provides excellent internal/external customer service via telephone, fax or face-to-face contact to assist patients with their health care needs.
  • Perform minor procedures.
  • Review incoming reports (e.g. lab, x-ray, EKG) sign, date and follow-up in a timely manner.
  • Participates in specified health promotion, education and/or prevention programs as needed i.e. diabetes collaborative/health fairs etc.; attends and participates in medical center meetings / departmental meetings and other medical center functions as required by the Center.
  • Assist in updating protocols and principles of practice as requested.
  • Assist in outside medical public relations functions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by medical director.
  • Follow-up in person and by phone on a scheduled basis to the people assigned to their care
  • Talk directly to patients on the telephone, chat and/or televisit, direct patients to the most appropriate service when needed.
  • Management and use of portable biomedical equipment for home care of assigned patients
  • Support and work with the team in all aspects to foster the best of class delivery of care.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Monitor and oversees clinical activities performed by the assigned nurse practitioner.

Required Education and Experience

  • Current unrestricted State Medical License with no current disciplinary action
  • Current State D.E.A. Certificate.
  • Degree from an accredited school of medicine.
  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in Internal Medicine/Family Practice/ General Practice etc.(Preferred)
  • If not Board Eligible at the time of hire, must be Board Certified within 3 years of hire date. (Preferred)
  • BLS and ACLS valid certificate.
  • English proficiency is a must. Candidates with abilities to speak other languages such as: Spanish, Creole or others are highly encouraged to apply.
  • Any combination of education, training and experience, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described, including related work experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Two years of experience working with multi-cultural patient population delivering patient-centric programs that are high quality and cost effective
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish
  • Relevant or any other job-related vocational coursework.
