This position serves in a full-time capacity providing musculoskeletal and sports medicine services with an emphasis on diagnosis and treatment for musculoskeletal injuries and disorders that are caused by or affect athletic performance. In addition to performing in-office procedures, these professionals also offer nonsurgical treatments, provide athletes with nonsurgical rehabilitation strategies and counsel them on lifestyle changes that can support recovery and/or help them manage a particular condition. They participate in community outreach, return to sports programs, concussion care, and injury prevention initiatives. Proficiency in diagnostic and interventional musculoskeletal ultrasound is desired with interest in expanding orthobiologic offerings.

You partner with both clinical and support services team members to ensure careful diagnosis and treatment is offered with what is best for the patient and their family in mind, together with stewardship of the organization’s resources to achieve sustainable and stable healthcare for our communities.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases and injuries to the musculoskeletal system in the office and community setting with an emphasis on the diagnosis and treatment for musculoskeletal injuries and disorders that are caused by or affect athletic performance. In addition to performing in-office diagnostics and procedures, recommend nonsurgical treatments as indicated, provide concussion care, provide athletes with nonsurgical rehabilitation strategies and counsel them on lifestyle changes that can support recovery and/or help them manage a particular condition.
  • Conduct and supervise direct patient care, including some non-surgical treatment options. Participate in community outreach, return to sports programs, concussion care, and injury prevention initiatives.
  • Participate in quality improvement efforts, which include and are not limited to attending >75% of section and provider operation council (POC) meetings as well as intermittently occurring unique meetings such as a provider retreat, for example.
  • Work with call group to cover call for the practice.
  • Share in keeping with the standards and schedule established by the orthopedic surgery section. Interface and collaborate with primary care providers and orthopedic surgeons.
  • Continuously participate in CME and meet or exceed the requirements of the applicable Board and State licensing standards.
  • Participate in office management tasks pertaining to scope of practice and clinical quality, including working with billing and coding team members to accurately code for services.
  • Adhere to Salem Health, Salem Health Medical Group and Salem Health Medical Staff policies relating to expectations of the health care team
  • Contribute positively to medical staff community through participation in various citizenship activities such as but not limited to mentoring students or new members joining the practice or serving on committees either within SHMG or the medical staff.
  • Supervises the following roles: Advanced Practice Providers including Physician Assistants and/or Nurse Practitioners as assigned.

You may be a qualified candidate if you:

  • Degree of doctor of medicine or doctor of osteopathy or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine at an American Committee on Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM)
  • Successful completion of an ACGME accredited residency in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Pediatrics, or Emergency Medicine
  • Successful completion of an ACGME accredited Sports Medicine Fellowship.
  • Experience at a Level I or Level II trauma center preferred

License/

  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of Oregon
  • Board Eligible/Board Certified in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Pediatrics or Emergency Medicine
  • Eligible for Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine
