Locum Primary Care Opening in Abilene, TX Type: Traveler Need: Primary Care Physician Start Date: End of January Hours: 8A-5P; Monday-Friday; with every 6th weekday on call (5P-8A on call hours) Assignment: 3-month minimum About Medical Center: Living Center serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who need medical, habilitative, or behavioral support beyond whats available to them in the community. Our campus is home to those we serve, providing them with care and staff supervision 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Responsibilities: This is for a case load of around 35 people. They will usually see no more than 10 patients a day for acute illness, injury or follow-up. Their day is spent with clinics, interdisciplinary team meetings, annual and interval medical assessments. On-Call: About 95% of call is managed by telephone and rarely require a return to campus. When on call for the weekend/holiday, they must come in and perform Infirmary rounds (16-bed Infirmary for acute and chronic care) and evaluate any acute illness or injuries among residents. The remainder of the time will be via phone. Requirements: Must have an absolutely clean record no history of sanctions by the Board. Must have current Texas License; DEA; NPI; and CPR/BLS. Prefer someone with experience in treating those with Intellectual and Developmental disabilities. Prefer someone familiar with electronic health record, particularly Cerner, and previous experience at a State Hospital or SSLC would be advantageous.
