• Provides the basics of health care, focusing on wellness and prevention.
• Focuses on the patient’s overall health. Ensures the patient receives recommended screenings and risk assessments.
• Demonstrates a broad clinical knowledge and attention to detail necessary to cover all possible diagnoses in a limited time.
• Demonstrates excellent communications skills, listening skills, and the ability to extract the pertinent information from patients who are sick or injured and not at their best.
• Demonstrates compassion, patience, and engagement in shared decision-making with patients regarding treatment choices and goals of care.
• Makes appropriate referrals to specialists, while continuing to manage the overall care of patients and communicating with specialists as needed.
• Demonstrates the ability to transform practice from individual patient management to population health management by embracing team-based management and alternative visits through telehealth, telephone, email, etc.
