Job Description

A Southern LA client is looking for an excellent primary care physician with 10 years of leadership experience to serve as Chief Medical Officer. This role will involve operating a $100M budget and 22 health centers in an underserved community. It is a very hands on position that requires 100% in person work. There are 100 providers that work for the organization (20 physicians and 80 APPs).

Required Qualifications

  • Graduated from an accredited medical school with a MD or DO degree
  • Current CA state medical license
  • Completed an accredited residency program and board certification in primary care
  • 10 years of leadership experience
  • Current DEA certification
  • Current CPR certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a FQHC site
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English

Responsibilities

  • Manages the care of patients in collaboration with other health professionals and members of the healthcare team in order to make decisions about treatment and attain health goals.
  • Ensures that the clinical care provided at clinics is maintained at the highest levels of excellence and in compliance with applicable laws, regulations and best practices
  • Ensures all professional clinical staff are competent and qualified
  • Oversees chart reviews for licensed independent practitioners (LIPs) and Unlicensed clinical practitioners to provide oversight. Completes periodic performance reviews for direct reports and quality reviews
  • Responsible to ensure adherence to current evidence-based clinical guidelines, standards of care, and standards of practice in the provision of health center services
  • Ensures that patient records are closed timely to permit scheduled billing and analysis activities for all clinicians
  • Works to meet benchmarks and achieve productivity sufficient to maintain qualifications for federal and state funding and grant requirements.
  • Oversees clinical care delivered at all clinic locations, the behavioral health services and dental department
  • Risk management, developing policies and procedures, meetings with senior management
  • Willingness to work at other locations as needed
  • Interviews and hires clinicians and assists with orientations for new hires
