IF YOU ARE A FAMILY MEDICINE PHYSICIAN WHO WANTS TO PRACTICE REAL PRIMARY CARE IN LOS ANGELES WITHOUT CALL, WITHOUT OVERTIME, AND WITHOUT LAST-MINUTE SCHEDULE CHAOS, READ THIS.
You get your schedule a full month in advance. You work one clinic location per day, never more. You have a medical assistant assigned to you. You have translators on site. You leave when your shift ends.
No call. No overtime. No telehealth. No surprises.
This is a community health network serving underserved families across South Los Angeles, Compton, and Inglewood. If you went into family medicine to take care of whole families across generations, from newborns to grandparents, this is that job.
At full-time coverage that is approximately $7,400 per week gross. Above the market rate for comparable outpatient FM locum roles in greater LA. No call premium needed because there is no call.

This client has had locum physicians back out at the last minute. Those communities felt every gap. They are not looking for someone who is curious about locums. They are looking for a physician who shows up, stays consistent, and becomes a familiar face to the families on their panel.

Job Responsibilities
California license — active and unrestricted. Required.
Board certified or board eligible within 5 years of residency. Board exam date required at submission.
Family medicine strongly preferred. Internal medicine considered.
Physicians only. NPs and PAs are not being considered for this role.
Must be comfortable with full women's health scope including IUD insertions and removals
Must be available for summer coverage. Excessive requested time off during summer months is a significant red flag for this client.
Must not have been previously submitted or interviewed at any St. John's locations. If you are unsure, note whether you have spoken with recruiters named Belen or Dominique at any previous point.
ASAP start is essential. Candidates who cannot begin credentialing within two weeks will not be competitive.
Requested time off days must be disclosed at submission.
CLINICAL DETAILS
Federally Qualified Health Center network, community health setting
MA assigned at a 1.5 to 1 ratio. You are supported.
Translators on site and assigned to your panel
EMR: eClinicalWorks
Credentialing: 2 to 3 weeks with prompt documentation and a clean file
Qualifications
If you hold a California license, are board certified or board eligible in family medicine, and can start credentialing within the next two weeks, reach out today. Include your board status, California license number, and your approximate availability and requested time off in your first message.
We will have your file in front of the network within 48 hours of a complete submission.
Working Hours
Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm standard shift
Late shift available at select locations: Monday through Friday, 11am to 7:30pm
Saturday coverage: 7am to 3:30pm, 2 Saturdays per month. Weeks with Saturday shift run Tuesday through Saturday so it is still five 8-hour days
Schedule provided one full month in advance. You know where you are going and when before the month begins.
Part-time accepted: 1 to 2 consistent weeks per month (not per diem — predictable and repeating availability required)

THE FLOAT — THE HONEST PICTURE
You will be assigned to one clinic location per day. You will never float mid-shift or receive last-minute location assignments. All sites are within 10 to 15 minutes of each other across South LA, Compton, and Inglewood. If you have a strong location preference, note it at submission and it will be considered. The only requirement is openness to working across 1 to 2 locations within the rotation.

THE NUMBERS
$185/hr — above market for outpatient FM locum work in greater Los Angeles

Skills
This is a full-scope family medicine position. The following skills are required or strongly preferred. Candidates who cannot perform the full scope should not apply.
Primary and Chronic Care
Primary care and chronic disease management across all ages, pediatric through geriatric
Annual physicals, school physicals, employment physicals, and insurance physicals
Health screenings including STI, vision, and hearing
Immunizations and vaccine administration
Women's Health — Required
Well-woman exams and comprehensive gynecological care
Pap smears, STI testing, and birth control prescribing
IUD insertions and removals
Family planning services and counseling
Postnatal care for mother and infant
Urgent Care
Urgent care backgrounds considered as a secondary preference
True family medicine training and board certification strongly preferred over urgent care only background
Additional Skills Valued
Spanish language proficiency is a significant plus. Translators are provided and assigned, but Spanish-speaking physicians are valued in this community.
