Job description
The Family Medicine Physician provides comprehensive, continuous, and holistic primary care for patients of all ages-from newborns to the elderly. Diagnose and treat acute/chronic illnesses, perform preventive checkups, and coordinate specialist care. Key duties include managing chronic diseases, conducting physicals, and performing minor procedures.
Job Responsibilities
Patient Care: Perform comprehensive medical assessments, physical exams, and preventative care (immunizations, screenings).
Diagnosis and Treatment: Diagnose and treat acute injuries/illnesses and manage chronic conditions like diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease.
Specialized Procedures: Perform minor, in-office procedures such as biopsies, suturing lacerations, and joint injections.
Counseling & Education: Educate patients on disease prevention and healthy lifestyle management.
Care Coordination: Act as a central, long-term point of contact to coordinate care with specialists and maintain detailed electronic medical records.
Pediatric/OB Care: Provide pediatric care and, in some settings, prenatal/postnatal care.
Qualifications
Illinois Medical license or eligibility for licensure in the state of Illinois.
Board Certification in Family Medicine, or Board Eligibility.
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
Working Hours
Skills
Extensive knowledge of family medicine principles, practices, and procedures, including obstetrics.
Knowledge of patient care management across a wide spectrum of medical conditions.
Strong skills in patient communication, ensuring understanding and building trust.
Ability to work effectively with a diverse patient population, demonstrating cultural sensitivity and awareness.
Strong organizational skills, ensuring efficient operation of clinical duties, educational sessions, and administrative responsibilities.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
