Family Medicine Physician (MD/DO) – Job Description
Position Summary
The Family Medicine Physician provides comprehensive, continuous medical care to individuals and families across the lifespan. This role emphasizes preventive care, health maintenance, and the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic medical conditions while coordinating care across the healthcare continuum.
Key Responsibilities

Provide primary medical care to patients of all ages

Evaluate, diagnose, and treat acute illnesses and injuries

Manage chronic medical conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, and cardiovascular disease

Deliver preventive care including wellness visits, health screenings, and immunizations

Provide patient education on health promotion, disease prevention, and lifestyle modification

Order, interpret, and review diagnostic tests, laboratory studies, and imaging
-
Perform office-based procedures within scope of practice

Coordinate care with specialists, hospitals, and ancillary services

Provide inpatient care, rounding, or call coverage as assigned (if applicable)

Document patient encounters accurately and timely in the medical record

Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and compliance initiatives

Adhere to evidence-based clinical guidelines and ethical standards
Qualifications
-
Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school
-
Completion of an accredited Family Medicine residency program
-
Board eligible or board certified in Family Medicine
-
Active state medical license or eligibility for licensure
-
Strong clinical judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills
-
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
Work Environment

May include outpatient clinics, inpatient hospital settings, or a combination of both

Schedule varies based on practice model and coverage needs
Physical Requirements

Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout clinical environments

Manual dexterity to perform examinations and procedures

Ability to assist with patient mobility as needed
