Now Hiring: Board-Certified Family or Internal Medicine Physician
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Client: Indian Health Service
Specialty: Family Medicine (FP) or Internal Medicine (IM) – Board Certified only

Position Overview:
The Indian Health Service is seeking a Board-Certified Family Medicine or Internal Medicine Physician to provide high-quality outpatient care in Phoenix, AZ. This opportunity is available as soon as onboarding is complete, with an initial 3-month assignment and option to extend.

Position Details:

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, with a 1-hour lunch or 4 ten-hour shifts (day off TBD)

  • Setting: 100% Outpatient

  • Patient Volume: 12–15 patients per day

  • Patient Population: Adults only

  • Types of Cases: Standard outpatient care, chronic disease management

  • Call: None

  • Procedures Required: None (minimal GYN – only paps/pelvic exams as needed)

  • Charting System: EMR - RPMS

  • Support Staff: Robust team including physicians, mid-levels, RNs, and specialty support

Requirements:

  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS (American Heart Association)

  • DEA: Active, schedules II–V (fee-paid)

  • License: Any active U.S. state license accepted

  • Credentialing Timeframe: 6-8 weeks

  • Reason for Need: Staffing shortage

Job Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive outpatient primary care services to adult patients.

Diagnose and manage chronic medical conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, and COPD.

Perform routine physical exams, health screenings, and wellness visits.

Address acute care needs, prescribing medications and ordering diagnostic tests as appropriate.

Conduct limited gynecologic exams (e.g., pelvic exams and pap smears as needed based on symptoms).

Collaborate with a multidisciplinary care team, including physicians, mid-level providers, nurses, and specialists.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation using EMR (RPMS) system.

Comply with Indian Health Service policies, procedures, and quality standards.

Participate in care coordination and referrals to specialty care as needed.

Ensure continuity of care by educating patients on treatment plans and preventive health practices.

Maintain current certifications (BLS, ACLS) and adhere to all licensure and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Board Certification in Family Medicine (FP) or Internal Medicine (IM) – Board Eligible candidates will not be considered

Active, unrestricted U.S. medical license – any state license accepted

Valid and active DEA license covering Schedules II–V (fee-paid)

Current BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association

Minimum of 1 year of experience in an outpatient adult primary care setting preferred

Proficient in managing chronic illnesses and providing preventive care

Comfortable performing limited gynecologic exams (e.g., pelvic exams, paps if symptomatic)

Familiarity with electronic medical record systems (EMR) – experience with RPMS is a plus

Excellent communication, collaboration, and clinical decision-making skills

Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment
