Job description
The Memphis VA Medical Center has an opening for an on-site Primary Care Women’s Health Physician that offers a dual academic appointment with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC). This position reports directly to the Chief of Primary Care and works as a member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, collaborating with other members of the team to provide comprehensive Women's Health and Primary Care to female Veterans enrolled in the Women’s Health Clinic. The physician is expected to demonstrate advanced competencies and skills in assessing the physical and psycho-social status of patients and family members, play an active role in the multidisciplinary healthcare team, promote preventive health measures, manage the acute and chronic conditions of his/her assigned panel of patients and those patients assigned to other team members when circumstances require.
The Medical Center consists of one main campus and ten community-based outpatient clinics (CBOCs). It’s a 1a-complexity tertiary care VA healthcare system located in one of the fastest growing Veteran population regions in the United States. The facility provides comprehensive care to over 47,000 veterans in a 52-county area of Western Tennessee, Northern Mississippi, and Northeast Arkansas. It includes 236 inpatient beds with a 26-bed Spinal Cord Injury Unit. It is a teaching hospital, providing a full range of patient care services, with state-of-the-art technology, as well as extensive education and research programs.

Job Responsibilities
• Proven comprehensive Women’s Health and Primary Care for female Veterans of all ages, including many younger patients.
• Provide preventive health care; primary care evaluation and management of chronic and acute medical conditions; gender-specific care, etc. gynecological care, birth control counseling and management, preconception care, breast and cervical cancer screening, HPV vaccinations, pelvic exams, treatment and prevention of sexually transmitted infections, pelvic/abdominal pain, menstrual concerts, vaginal symptoms (dryness/infections)(, urinary incontinence, initial infertility evaluation, menopause evaluation and treatment (hormone replacement), osteoporosis screening and treatment, mammograms, wellness and healthy living, nutrition and weight management, smoking cessation, and patient education to Veterans in the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) setting; outpatients include both schedule and unscheduled Veterans.
• Function as an integral part of a multidisciplinary Women's Clinic team, including nursing, pharmacy, gynecology, social work, mental health, and nutrition, to provide comprehensive team-based care and participate in quality improvement activities to enhance care.
• Work effectively with patients, families, members of the multidisciplinary team, and other FNCVAMC staff.
• Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnostic work-up and clinical intervention, including comprehensive patient assessment, health history, physical examination, and patient education to Veterans in the Primary Care team setting; outpatients include both scheduled and unscheduled Veterans. Demonstrates flexibility in responding to clinical demands, adhere to personal and professional obligations and responsibilities, practice and maintain ethical standards, and sustain a work environment that is harmonious and customer oriented.

Qualifications
• BE/EC in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
• Comprehensive experience in Women’s Health
• Eligible for a Faculty Appointment at UTHSC
• Full and unrestricted license from ANY state
• US Citizenship
• Be proficient in the written and spoken use of the English language
Working Hours
• Experience-based salary $230,000-$300,000
• Work Schedule: Mon-Fri: 8AM-4:30PM
• CME Reimbursement: Possible $1000 per year (Must be Board Certified)
