Chief of the Division of Geriatrics and Director of the Center for Aging and Health

The UNC Division of Geriatric Medicine is currently reviewing applications from qualified physicians for the position of Division Chief of Geriatrics and Director of the Center for Aging and Health. This role carries an Open Rank faculty appointment with an at-will secondary appointment as Division Chief. The Division Chief will provide leadership within a robust academic practice and foster the development of excellence in research, medical education, complex clinical care, and quality and safety. Responsibilities include a balanced portfolio of administrative, clinical, research, and educational duties.

We invite candidates with a proven record of productivity in basic and translational research, clinical research, and/or clinical trials. Preferred candidates will demonstrate creativity and passion for academic leadership, exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, and a clear ability to manage a multifaceted academic division and center. The successful candidate will inspire confidence through thoughtful reasoning and sound decision-making. The Division Chief reports directly to the Chair of Medicine and collaborates closely with other division chiefs and senior leaders to advance the intertwined missions of the Department of Medicine and UNC Health. Academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree
  • Board certification in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • Excellent communication skills
