Requirements:
• Active Virginia license
• BC/BE
• BLS/ACLS
Responsibilities:
• Provide care for acute and long-term individuals through evaluation and diagnosis
• Prescribe medications and respond to emergencies
• Provide documentation of services and treatment rendered in the individuals’ charts as required by federal and state regulations
• Provide clinical supervision/leadership to a team of professionals
• Provide in-service training to other professional staff (including, but not limited to nursing, therapy staff, and ancillary directs service staff)
• Provide services consistent with the physician’s training, credentials, and expertise to the court system, when requested
• Collaborate with a psychiatrist, if needed
• Provide Diagnostic Statistical Manual (DSM)-5 diagnoses that are valid and complete
• Provide supervision to any staff assigned
• Consult with the facility regarding the care of individuals on an as-needed basis
• Facilitate individuals groups for medication management and/or mental illness education as a part of active treatment
• Accept the multi-disciplinary treatment team approach and act as a functioning member of the treatment team(s) to which the Physician is assigned.
• Serve as a member of any committee so designated
• Limit prescription to medications with the preset pharmacy formula.
