The Endocrinology Section at the Cincinnati VA Medical Center is seeking a Chief of Endocrinology with a tenure-eligible commensurate faculty appointment in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Currently, the VA Endocrinology section consists of four part-time endocrinologists with clinical and basic science expertise in diabetes and bone and lipid metabolism. The Cincinnati VA provides support for UC endocrinology fellowships and is a major venue for student, resident, and fellow clinical learning. There are active programs in inpatient and outpatient diabetes management, thyroid ultrasound and fine needle aspiration, and developing programs in bone and lipid metabolism as well as clinical and basic science diabetes research. Responsibilities will include patient care (Inpatient Endocrinology Consult service and Outpatient clinics), teaching and supervision of student, residents, and fellows and faculty mentoring. Negotiable protected time for research and start-up resources are available. Candidates with active VA or externally-funded research will be given preference.Significant research support will be available to the successful candidate. Interest in developing endocrine support for organ transplantation service is also viewed favorable. The Cincinnati VAMC has a newly-built multipurpose research building as well as an active clinical research unit.The Cincinnati Education and Research for Veterans Foundation is the active nonprofit affiliated with the Cincinnati VAMC Research Development Department ( [Register to View] ) and provides assistance with all non-VA research studies. The Cincinnati VAMC is an active partner in the Center for Clinical and Translational Science and Training program with the University of Cincinnati and Children's Hospital of Cincinnati ( [Register to View] .)
