Emergency Medicine Physician Job Details

• Opportunity Type: 13-week locum tenens Emergency Medicine Physician position
• Start Date: March 1, 2027
• End Date: May 31, 2027
• Location: San Leandro, California
• Setting: Hospital emergency departments
• Schedule: Day shifts, with coverage needs of approximately 5–10 shifts per month
• Shift Duration: 12-hour shifts
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $7,970–$8,550
• Expected Patient Volume: Approximately 13–16 patients per shift; up to 2 patients per hour during peak periods
• Electronic Medical Record: Epic with dictation available

Emergency Medicine Physician Requirements

• At least 1 year of emergency medicine experience required; 2 years preferred
• Board certification through ABEM required; board eligibility may be considered
• Active California physician license required
• Active California DEA registration required, including authorization for Schedule II and IIN medications
• Recent experience managing emergency department patients across a broad range of acuity levels
• Proficiency with emergency procedures, including intubation and central line placement
• Ability to respond to code situations and perform critical procedures in the emergency department or inpatient setting
• Strong communication, clinical judgment, and care coordination skills

Emergency Medicine Physician Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting to the emergency department
• Manage a varied patient population while maintaining safe, efficient patient flow
• Perform intubations, central line placements, and other indicated emergency procedures
• Respond to code blue events and provide critical interventions in the ED or on hospital floors
• Collaborate with ED nurses and available anesthesia and intensivist support
• Stabilize critically ill patients and coordinate transfers to appropriate trauma or specialty centers
• Complete timely, accurate documentation in Epic using available dictation tools
