Locums – Ocala, Florida, Emergency Medicine Openings

Clinical Role

• ASAP start
• Long-term locums need anticipated for 1-2 years
• Coverage needed due to staffing shortage
• Providers must be willing to work at affiliated Freestanding Emergency Departments (FSEDs)
• Orientation provided the morning of the first shadow shift
• Emergency Medicine residency program and APP training program on-site

Schedule & Coverage

• 7:00 am-7:00 pm
• 7:00 pm-7:00 am
• Two additional 8-hour shifts available daily
• APP coverage varies by location, shift, and time of day

Practice Setting & Case Mix

• Main hospital and affiliated FSED coverage
• Level II Trauma Center with ACS Level I designation noted
• Most FSEDs average approximately 2 patients per hour
• FSEDs primarily see Level 3, 4, and 5 patients
• Common cases include abdominal pain, chest pain, and other Emergency Medicine presentations
• Main-site volume and acuity vary
• Providers are unlikely to work in the highest-acuity section of the main facilities unless specifically requested

Procedures

• Proficiency in emergency care procedures required, including:
  • Central access
  • Arterial line placement
  • Lumbar puncture
  • Intubation
  • Pacing
  • Orthopedic stabilization

Requirements & Credentialing

• Active Florida license required
• Board Certified Emergency Medicine physicians accepted
• Emergency Medicine Board Eligible physicians accepted following successful completion of an accredited residency
• Family Medicine/Internal Medicine physicians with at least 3 years of Emergency Medicine experience accepted for FSED coverage only
