Job Details:

Combined Emergency Medicine and Urgent Care setting at a tertiary Level II hospital
Approximately 10-20 shifts per month with greatest need for night shifts (6:00 PM - 6:00 AM)
Physicians cover variable 12-hour shifts: 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM, 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM, and 10:00 AM - 10:00 PM
Patient volume of 100-180 encounters per 24-hour period
38 combined ED/UC beds in the department
Physician expected to perform procedural sedation, airway management, and central lines
Ultrasound-guided vascular access is commonly performed, with multiple trained RNs, techs, and medics on staff
ED provider supervises code blue team with varying responsibility in trauma cases
Facility has a Level 3 NICU with OB in-house; newborn deliveries are received in the ED and an L&D department is present
Very few conditions transferred out; may include significant burns, children requiring ECMO, and occasional transplant patients
Full 24-hour support services available including anesthesia, cardiothoracic surgery, catheterization lab, general surgery, laboratory, neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, radiology, and vascular surgery
ABEM board certification required
Required certifications: ACLS, ATLS, BLS, and PALS
