Emergency Medicine Physician (MD/DO)
Columbus, NE

Overview:
Our emergency department in Columbus is seeking an Emergency Medicine Physician to provide rapid, high-quality care across a wide range of emergency conditions. Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform rapid assessment, triage, and initial management of patients presenting with a wide range of emergency conditions, including sick visits, lacerations, chest pain, and other emergencies
  • Lead resuscitation efforts, including advanced cardiac life support and trauma resuscitation, per ACLS and ATLS protocols
  • Perform emergency procedures such as airway management and intubation, central line placement, chest tube insertion, procedural sedation, and wound care including suturing
  • Interpret diagnostic studies, including labs, ECGs, and imaging, integrating findings into timely clinical decision-making
  • Utilize point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) to support diagnostic accuracy and guide procedures
  • Coordinate care with hospitalists, specialists, nursing staff, and ancillary services to ensure safe transitions of care
  • Document all patient encounters thoroughly and accurately in the electronic health record (EHR) in a timely manner
  • Contribute to a culture of safety and quality through ED protocols, clinical pathways, and performance improvement initiatives

Qualifications:

  • Completion of an ACGME- or AOA-accredited residency in Emergency Medicine (or related specialty with substantial ED experience), with Board Certification or Board Eligibility (ABEM/AOBEM) required
  • Active, current medical licensure (MD/DO) in Nebraska
  • Prior experience in community or regional emergency departments, including critical care management and stabilization prior to ICU transfer
