Are you a Board Certified or Board Eligible Emergency Medicine Physician seeking a high-yield locum tenens opportunity in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula? A community hospital in Sault Ste. Marie is seeking a skilled physician for a 6-month contract starting as soon as credentialed. Offering a predictable requirement of just 7 shifts per month (in 4-shift blocks), 12-hour day or night coverage, zero call duties, and dedicated trauma team support, this assignment offers exceptional flexibility and clinical balance.

The Opportunity

Step into a community emergency department managing a broad mix of acute care cases alongside supportive nursing staff and trauma teams.

• Clinical Scope: Deliver bread-and-butter emergency medicine care and procedural management, including:

  • Evaluating acute illnesses, injuries, and emergency presentations across adult and pediatric populations

  • Managing standard emergency medicine procedures and critical interventions

  • Utilizing Epic EMR for clinical order entry and patient documentation

• The Schedule & Shift Breakdown:

  • Monthly Commitment: 7 shifts per month (preferred scheduling in blocks of at least 4 consecutive shifts).

  • Shift Structure: 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM).

  • Call & Holidays: Zero call required. Holiday shifts scheduled only by mutual agreement.

• Workload & Facility Census: Manageable volume averaging approximately 45 emergency department visits per day across a 49-bed hospital setting.

• Assignment Duration: 6-month locum contract.

Candidate Requirements

All candidate submissions must include a gapless CV (Month/Year format), clean NPDB/OIG searches, ACGME 10-digit program code, and three professional references from the past 18 months.

• Board Status: Board Certified (BC) or Board Eligible (BE) in Emergency Medicine (BE candidates must be within 5 years of ACGME-approved residency completion).

• Licensure: Active, unencumbered Michigan State Medical License and active DEA (or active IMLC Letter of Qualification).

• Life Support: Active ACLS, ATLS, PALS, and BLS certifications required.

• Experience & Volume: Minimum 1 year of post-grad experience and verified 12-month case logs demonstrating at least 50 emergency patients within the past year.
