Job Overview
We are seeking a Board-Certified Emergency Medicine Physician for a locum tenens assignment in Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts. This opportunity is based in a critical access hospital and is ideal for physicians experienced in community or rural emergency settings, with a preference for night coverage.
Schedule & Coverage
- 📆 Duration: ~3 months
- 🕒 Shifts: ~10 shifts per month
- 🌙 Shift Types: Mix of days, evenings & nights (nights preferred)
- 🚫 Call: Not required
Job Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive emergency care across all age groups
Manage a variety of acute and chronic conditions
Work independently in a limited specialty support environment
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in EPIC
Qualifications
🏅 Board Certified – Emergency Medicine (Required)
❌ Internal Medicine / Family Medicine-only candidates not accepted
📜 Active Massachusetts License (Required)
💊 DEA (MA)
❤️ ACLS Certification
📈 Minimum 1 year Emergency Department experience
💻 EPIC experience required
Working Hours
🕒 Shifts: 12-hour shifts
🌙 Timing: Mix of day, evening, and night shifts
7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
3:00 PM – 12:00 AM
10:00 PM – 7:00 AM
📅 Schedule: ~10 shifts per month
🔄 Rotation: Flexible (nights preferred)
🚫 On-Call: Not required
Skills
🚑 Ability to manage acute & high-acuity cases in a fast-paced ED
👶 Comfortable treating pediatric to geriatric patients
⏱️ Efficient patient management (2.5–3 patients/hour)
🧠 Sound clinical judgment & decision-making in limited support settings
💻 Proficiency with EPIC EMR
🤝 Ability to work independently and collaborate with ED staff
🌙 Flexibility to handle night and rotating shifts
🩺 Experience in community / rural / critical access hospital settings (preferred)
