Job description

The Opportunity

A 137-bed award-recognized community hospital in Blue Springs, running about 54 visits a day across 18 beds plus 4 fast track. One physician on days, one on nights, and two daytime APPs — a staffing pattern that actually holds when the waiting room fills. Primary Stroke Center and Certified Chest Pain Center, with orthopaedics and surgical services on campus. Suburban Kansas City, which means your commute is short and your mortgage is reasonable.

What You'll Own

  • The department with real daytime support. Two APPs on days alongside you, one physician on nights.
  • About 54 visits a day and roughly 10 admissions across 18 beds plus 4 fast track.
  • Time-critical pathways that work. Primary Stroke Center and Certified Chest Pain Center accreditation.
  • On-campus surgical and orthopaedic backup for the cases you'd otherwise be transferring.

Must-Haves

  • MD or DO
  • ABEM or AOBEM board certification
  • Missouri license, or eligibility in process

Nice to Have

  • Experience in an accredited stroke or chest pain centre
  • Community ED background
  • Epic familiarity

What Working Here Is Actually Like

  • $365,000–$385,000 annually at full-time volume, independent contractor.
  • Malpractice and tail both covered. Tail is the one people forget to ask about until they leave.
  • Epic with Dragon. Charting closes out at the end of the shift, not at home at 11pm.
  • Two daytime APPs — staffing that matches the volume.
  • Physician-owned and physician-managed since 2012. When you escalate a problem, it reaches a physician who still works clinical shifts.
  • Not a locums agency. An ongoing program position with a named, stable team.
  • Blue Springs. Suburban Kansas City, affordable housing, family-oriented, with lakes and trails close and the metro a short drive.
  • Licensure is faster than you expect if you're coming from out of state. Missouri participates in the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact, so if you already hold a qualifying license elsewhere, adding this one typically runs one to three weeks rather than months.

Straight Talk

This is a steady, well-supported community department rather than a high-acuity one. If you're coming from a trauma centre and want that adrenaline, you will find this quiet. Plenty of physicians consider that the entire point at this stage of a career.

About Inhospital Physicians (IHP): IHP is a physician-owned and physician-managed group, headquartered in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania and operating since 2012, running Emergency Medicine, Hospitalist, Intensivist and post-acute programs for acute-care hospitals, LTACHs and health systems across multiple states. IHP is not a locums agency; these are ongoing program positions with stable, named teams.

Qualifications

Board Certified / Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine (ABEM preferred)
