🏥 Job Description
We are seeking a Board-Certified OB/GYN Physician for an exciting locums opportunity at an acute care hospital in Potsdam, NY. This role offers a supportive environment with a well-staffed unit and a diverse patient population.
🔹 Shift: 24-hour call (7a–7a or 7p–7p)
🔹 Schedule: Ongoing coverage with preferred block scheduling
🔹 Patient Volume: Low to moderate (0–10 patients/day)
🔹 EMR: Epic
👩⚕️ Patient Population: Pediatrics & Adults
🛠️ Procedures Include:
- Vaginal deliveries (SVD, operative)
- Cesarean sections
- Delivery repairs
- Circumcisions
- D&C / D&E
- Laparoscopic, robotic, and abdominal GYN surgeries
👥 Support Staff:
- RNs, CNAs, Clerks
- Anesthesiologist on-call 24/7
Job Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic care to pediatric and adult patients
Perform vaginal deliveries, operative deliveries, Cesarean sections, and delivery repairs
Conduct gynecologic procedures including D&C/D&E and laparoscopic, robotic, or abdominal surgeries
Manage perioperative and postoperative care for surgical patients
Collaborate with RNs, CNAs, clerks, and anesthesiologists to ensure safe, high-quality patient care
Document all patient care accurately using Epic EMR
Respond to 24-hour in-house call and manage acute situations as needed
Maintain adherence to hospital policies and patient safety protocols
Qualifications
Board Certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology
Active New York State Medical License
BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications
Minimum 2 years of recent clinical experience in OB/GYN
Experience with Epic EMR
Proven ability to manage labor, deliveries, and gynecologic surgeries safely and efficiently
Working Hours
24-hour in-house call (7:00 AM – 7:00 AM or 7:00 PM – 7:00 PM)
Flexible block scheduling with preferred stretches, may be split if needed
Coverage includes first-call responsibilities for obstetric and gynecologic patients
Must remain within a 20-minute radius of the facility while on call
Skills
Expertise in labor and delivery management (vaginal, operative, Cesarean)
Proficiency in gynecologic surgeries (laparoscopic, robotic, abdominal)
Strong clinical decision-making in acute and high-pressure situations
Excellent patient assessment and perioperative care skills
Effective communication and teamwork with multidisciplinary staff
Competence in Epic EMR documentation
Ability to manage diverse patient populations (pediatrics and adults)
Strong time management and organizational skills for extended shifts
