Emergency Medicine Locum Tenens Physician

Position Overview

One of our Partners is seeking an experienced Emergency Medicine Physician for a critical access emergency department offering independent, single-provider coverage.

This is a low-volume, high-acuity environment where providers manage a wide range of cases with strong clinical autonomy and access to specialty support and transfer services. Ideal for physicians with rural ED experience and strong procedural skills.

Estimated Monthly Earnings: $12,000 – $18,000+

Assignment Highlights

• Schedule: ~4 shifts per month
• Shift Times:
  • 6a–6p (days)
  • 6p–6a (nights – primary need)
• Setting: Critical Access Hospital ED
• Annual Volume: ~12,000
• Admission Rate: ~8%
• Coverage Model: Single physician (no APP support)
• Trauma Level: IV
• EMR: Epic (required)
• Support Services Available:
  • OB, Ortho, ENT, Urology, Radiology, Pediatrics
  • Respiratory Therapy in-house
  • Helipad for rapid transfer
• Sleep Room Available for Providers
• Malpractice Insurance: Covered
• HPA Healthcare: Joint Commission–certified agency

Job Responsibilities

• Provide full-scope emergency care across all age groups
• Manage undifferentiated patients in a single-provider ED
• Perform advanced procedures including airway management and trauma care
• Lead resuscitations for adult and pediatric patients
• Determine disposition including admission, transfer, or discharge
• Coordinate with consultants and transfer teams

Skills & Experience

• Board Certified in Emergency Medicine or Family Medicine with ED experience
• Active North Dakota license required (no licensing support)
• Minimum 2 years ED experience (rural/critical access preferred)
• Strong procedural competency required
• Epic proficiency required
