Job description
Step into a high-impact rural Emergency Medicine role where your skills truly make a difference. This is an excellent opportunity for physicians who are confident managing a broad spectrum of cases independently in a Level IV Trauma Center.
Start Date: April 20, 2026 Contract Length: 13 weeks Shifts: ~4 shifts per month (primarily nights preferred)
Position Highlights:

12-hour shifts (6a–6p or 6p–6a)

Single physician coverage – autonomy and leadership opportunity
-
Low-volume ED (~12,000 annual visits)
-
Sleep room available for overnight shifts
-
Emergency privileges possible with active ND license
-
Setting: Level IV Trauma Center

Admission rate: ~8%
-
No APP support – physician-led care
-
Patient population: All ages (adult & pediatric)
Procedures & Skills Required:
-
Intubation and advanced airway management
-
Chest tube placement and central line insertion
-
Procedural sedation
-
Adult and pediatric resuscitation
-
Orthopedic emergency care
-
Leading trauma resuscitations and coordinating multidisciplinary teams
Core Responsibilities:
-
Provide full-spectrum emergency care and medical decision-making
-
Order and interpret labs, imaging, and EKGs
-
Manage admissions, transfers, and discharges
-
Ensure EMTALA compliance and proper documentation
-
Collaborate with nursing staff, consultants, and EMS teams
Support & Resources:
-
Specialty support includes OB, Ortho, ENT, Urology, Radiology, and Pediatrics
-
Respiratory Therapy in-house and helipad available for transfers
-
EMR: Epic (must be proficient)

Board Certified in Emergency Medicine (preferred) or Family Medicine with ED experience

Active North Dakota license required
-
ACLS, PALS, ATLS, and DEA required
-
Minimum 2 years of Emergency Medicine experience (rural/critical access preferred)
-
Must be highly comfortable practicing independently
