Emergency Medicine Physician (MD/DO) – Locum Opportunity

A hospital in Pennsylvania is seeking Emergency Medicine physicians (MD/DO) for an ongoing locum opportunity. The facility is looking to add multiple providers to help support a busy emergency department with strong specialty backup and APP support on every shift.

Assignment Overview

Start Date: As soon as credentialed
Coverage Type: Ongoing Locum Coverage
Setting: Hospital Emergency Department
Estimated Shifts: Approximately 64 shifts per month across the provider pool
EMR: Epic
Travel Covered: Mileage (personal vehicle), airfare, lodging, parking, rental car & fuel, and ground transportation

Schedule

Coverage needed Monday – Sunday across multiple shifts:

• 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM

• 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM

• 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM

• 2:00 PM – 12:00 AM

• 9:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Physicians will not work solo. The department typically staffs 2 APPs per shift and 1 APP overnight.

Patient Population

• Adults: 70%

• Pediatrics: 30%

Typical Cases

Physicians will treat a wide range of emergency cases including:

• Motor vehicle accidents and trauma

• Falls and orthopedic injuries

• Chest pain, abdominal pain, headaches

• Infections and pneumonia

• COPD exacerbations

• Allergic reactions

• Burns

• Behavioral health cases

• Stroke and sepsis

• ENT emergencies

Procedures & Responsibilities

• Patient assessment and stabilization (airway management, fracture care, casting)

• Diagnosis and treatment of acute medical and surgical emergencies

• Coordination with consulting specialties

• Managing patient flow and boarding

• Continuous patient evaluation and treatment

• Documentation and charting in Epic

• Provider handoffs and team collaboration

On-Site Specialty Support

Strong specialty support available including:

• Cardiovascular / Heart & Vascular

• Orthopedic Surgery & Trauma

• Neurology

• Oncology

• OB/GYN

• Pulmonology

• Endocrinology

• Gastroenterology

• Nephrology

• Hematology

Requirements

• MD or DO

• BC/BE – Emergency Medicine

• Active Pennsylvania License

• DEA

• ACLS Certification

• Minimum 1 year of Emergency Medicine experience

IMLC candidates will be considered.
