- Service Setting: Inpatient/Outpatient
- Coverage Type: Clinical Only
- Coverage Period: 05/01/2026 Ongoing
- Clinical Shift Schedule: Multiple shifts available including Day (7a4p), Day 2 (9a6p), Swing (3p11p), and Night (7p7a) COVERAGE DATES
- Coverage begins May 1, 2026
- Ongoing coverage required
- Flexible scheduling based on department needs
PATIENT INFORMATION
- Patient Demographics: Adults
- Patient Volume/Census: Approximately 25,000 annual ED visits
- Admissions: Approximately 8% admissions or transfers
- Rounding: Not Included
- Phone Consults: No
- Case Mix: Broad emergency medicine case mix with most adult subspecialties available except Neurosurgery
FACILITY INFORMATION
- EMR System: Epic
- Office Equipment Available: Standard emergency department equipment
- Specialty Backup Available: Most adult subspecialties available except Neurosurgery
- Support Staff Available: Advanced Practice Provider coverage from 12p 9p along with nursing and ED support staff
- Reason for Coverage: Supplemental coverage
PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE
- Hospital Privileges Required: Yes
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Overtime: Daily OT after 12 hours and Weekly OT after 168 hours
- Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: TBD REQUIRED PROCEDURES
- Emergency patient evaluation and stabilization
- Airway management and intubation
- Suturing and wound management
- Fracture stabilization and splinting
- Emergency diagnostic evaluation and treatment
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Licenses: Active Louisiana Medical License or willingness to obtain
- Board: ABEM, ABIM, or ABFM with Emergency Medicine experience
- DEA: Active DEA Certification
- Certifications: BLS and ACLS
- Experience: Emergency Medicine experience required; EM residency trained physicians considered
- Other Qualifications: Fellowship training preferred; board certification preferred
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide comprehensive emergency medical care to patients presenting to the emergency department
- Perform patient assessments, diagnosis, and treatment planning
- Order and interpret laboratory tests, imaging, and other diagnostics
- Perform emergency procedures as required
- Collaborate with advanced practice providers, nurses, and hospital staff to ensure high-quality patient care
- Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation within the Epic EMR system
