Are you a dedicated Emergency Medicine physician seeking a rewarding opportunity to make a difference? We are seeking a skilled and reliable Locum Physician to provide exceptional emergency care at a busy hospital in Jackson, Ohio. This role offers the chance to work in a dynamic environment, overseeing patient care, and collaborating with a team of healthcare professionals. Your expertise will ensure timely, quality treatment for diverse patient needs while enjoying excellent compensation and support.
Required Skills:
- Valid medical license in Ohio and appropriate board certification in Emergency Medicine
- Proven experience in emergency department settings
- Strong clinical skills with the ability to manage a high-volume patient flow
- Ability to oversee Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) and coordinate team efforts
- Proficiency with EMRs, specifically All Scripts and Paragon systems
- Excellent communication and decision-making abilities
- Ability to work independently and efficiently during 12-hour shifts
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience in trauma level/designation settings
- Familiarity with hospital processes involving admissions, transfers, and consultations
- Experience with diverse specialties such as radiology, cardiology, pulmonology, and others
- Prior experience in a locum or temporary physician role
Preferred Education and Experience:
- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 2 years of emergency medicine practice
- Previous experience managing shifts of 8 hours or more in an ED environment
Other Requirements:
- Availability to start as soon as credentialed, approximately 60+ days from offer
- Minimum of 5 shifts per month, ideally 8-10 shifts, with ongoing availability for at least 12 months
- Shifts scheduled from 8p-8a or 8a-8p
- Must coordinate travel through OVP; must not work OT
- Will oversee APPs; physician orders admissions
- No trauma level designation
- Hospital admits approximately 17% of ED patients, with less than 7% transfers
- Annual ED volume of approximately 18,527 patients
- Note: Medical staff fees are not reimbursed; physician conversion fee cap ranges from $18K-$20K
