Job description
A high-volume emergency department at a Level 1 Trauma Center in South Carolina is seeking board-certified or board-eligible Emergency Medicine physicians for locum tenens coverage. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a well-supported, team-oriented environment with strong specialty backup and experienced clinical staff.
Job Responsibilities
• Strong physician coverage with about 108 physician hours per day
• Physicians average approximately 2 patients per hour
• Dedicated APP-staffed Fast Track for lower-acuity patients
• Full trauma team, hospitalists, and intensivists available in-house
• Support from anesthesia and intensivists for difficult airways
Qualifications
• MD or DO
• Active or eligible state medical license
• Experience in high-volume emergency department settings preferred
Working Hours
Hours for Day shifts: 7a-3p, 11a-9p, 3p-12n, 4p-1a
Skills
• Provide initial management of trauma patients until trauma attending arrives
• Collaborate with hospitalists, intensivists, and specialty consultants
• Coordinate admissions and patient transfers as needed
• Work within a highly coordinated, multidisciplinary emergency department team
