Overview
We are seeking qualified emergency medicine physicians to provide top-tier urgent care services on a locum basis. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing acute cases in a hospital setting, ensuring efficient patient flow, and delivering high-quality emergency care. This position offers a unique incentive of $25/hour for night shifts, with guaranteed hours and the potential for overtime, providing a consistent and lucrative opportunity for committed providers.
Required Skills
- Valid and active California medical license
- Board certification or eligibility in Emergency Medicine (BC or BE within 5 years)
- ABEM or ABEOM certification (ABIM/ABFM not accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of current hospital-based clinical experience in emergency medicine or relevant specialty
- Familiarity with managing approximately 110 patients in a 24-hour period
- Ability to explain gaps in employment exceeding 3 months
- Demonstrated proficiency with case logs for surgical specialties, including current documentation at time of application
- Strong communication, decision-making, and multitasking skills
Nice to Have Skills
- Experience with high-volume emergency departments
- Previous locum or temporary work experience
- Knowledge of hospital protocols and workflows in emergency settings
- Bilingual abilities a plus
Preferred Education and Experience
- Medical degree from an accredited institution
- Residency training in Emergency Medicine
- Valid California medical license with current board certification or eligibility
- 2+ years of recent hospital emergency medicine practice
Other Requirements
- Must work night shifts to qualify for the $25/hour incentive; day shift providers will remain at contracted rates
- Travel reimbursements include airport parking and ride share/taxi costs from airport to lodging and hospital, with certain expenses (home-to-airport mileage, ride share costs from home) not reimbursed
- Flexible scheduling pending shift availability
- Willingness to adhere to hospital guidelines and medical director approvals for overtime
