Job Description:
This position involves delivering comprehensive emergency medical care to a diverse military population, including active-duty soldiers, their families, and other beneficiaries living on a remote installation. Providers manage a wide range of cases, from common acute illnesses in otherwise healthy adults to trauma and training-related injuries unique to the military setting. Daily work includes fast-paced assessments, advanced resuscitative procedures, coordination with specialty services, and supervision of frontline medical personnel. The role requires consistent engagement in emergency responses, trauma activations, and readiness-focused drills. Overall, this position blends high-acuity emergency practice with a mission-driven, team-centered environment in a uniquely isolated desert location.
Job Responsibilities
• Perform rapid emergency evaluations, diagnostics, and acute treatments for active duty service members, military families, and other eligible beneficiaries.
• Stabilize critically ill or injured patients and carry out advanced life saving procedures, including intubation, chest tube placement, and ACLS/ALS interventions.
• Participate in trauma activations, code responses, and mass casualty readiness drills.
• Coordinate referrals and collaborate with specialists across various departments to ensure seamless patient care.
• Provide patient and family education regarding emergency conditions, treatment plans, and follow up care needs.
• Supervise and mentor medics, EMTs, paramedics, and other clinical support personnel in a military healthcare environment.
• Maintain accurate and compliant medical documentation within the MHS Genesis electronic health record system.
• Deliver care in alignment with federal, state, and Department of Defense standards, facility policies, and clinical protocols.
Qualifications
• Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited institution.
• Active state license as an Emergency Medicine Physician.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine.
• Specialty certifications as required by the state or contracting agency.
• One year of experience as an Emergency Medicine Physician preferred; three years of broader emergency medicine experience also preferred.
• Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
• Valid DEA registration and National Provider Identifier (NPI).
• Completion of required health screenings, TB testing, and compliance with all federal, state, and facility regulations.
• Ability to work collaboratively with advanced practice providers when required.
