Long-term locum tenens Emergency Medicine opportunity beginning January 2026 at an acute care hospital in Southeastern Indiana. This role supports a mixed MD/APC staffing model in a low-volume Level IV Trauma Emergency Department. Physicians will provide day and night coverage while supervising APCs and managing a broad scope of emergency presentations.
Job Responsibilities
• Supervise APC providers
• Evaluate, treat, and manage ED patients
• Perform procedures within Emergency Medicine scope of practice
• Collaborate within MD/APC staffing model
Qualifications
• ABIM/AOBIM or ABFM accepted
• FM or IM trained physicians accepted with EM experience
• Minimum 3+ years Emergency Medicine experience
• If not EM residency trained, must have 3 years EM experience
• If not board certified, must be within 5 years of board eligibility
• Active, unrestricted license (or ability to obtain)
• Required Certifications:
ACLS
BLS
PALS
(Certifications must be from AHA, ARC, or Medtigo)
Working Hours
• 12-hour shifts
7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• APC coverage: 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM
• Long-term assignment (6+ months)
Skills
• Low-volume ED efficiency (2.5 PPH)
• Trauma evaluation (Level IV)
• Independent decision-making
• APC supervision
• Experience with Meditech EMR preferred
