Emergency Medicine Physician Job Details

• Position Type: Locum tenens (travel contract)
• Location: Dyersville, Iowa (zip 52040) – Iowa healthcare jobs
• Setting: Emergency Department and inpatient care in a rural hospital environment
• Schedule: Minimum 3 x 24-hour shifts per pay period; occasional 12-hour shifts (7a-7a or 7a-7p)
• Shift Duration: 12 or 24 hours (rotating)
• On-Call: In-house coverage with provider sleep room available
• Estimated Weekly Hours: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $6,390 - $7,560
• Start Date: January 26, 2026
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks

Emergency Medicine Physician Qualifications

• Board Certified in Emergency Medicine (ABEM), Family Practice, or Internal Medicine with recent emergency medicine experience
• Active Iowa medical license or active IMLC (Interstate Medical Licensure Compact)
• Clean malpractice and background history
• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in emergency medicine

Emergency Medicine Physician Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality emergency medical care to an average of 4 ED patients per day
• Manage inpatient responsibilities for an average census of 4 patients (observation, acute, swingbed)
• Utilize TogetherCare (EPIC) EMR system for clinical documentation
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team including Advanced Practice Providers, RNs, and CNAs per shift
• Access medical imaging, laboratory, pharmacy, and comprehensive outpatient services
• Participate in in-house call coverage; sleep room provided for overnight shifts
