We are seeking a Board-Certified Emergency Medicine Physician for a locum tenens Emergency Medicine opportunity in Mt Pleasant, Michigan. This position offers consistent 12-hour rotating shifts in a busy, well-supported emergency department with strong ancillary services and specialist backup. The emergency department serves a diverse adult and pediatric patient population and manages a broad range of emergency conditions, from routine cases to higher-acuity presentations. With an annual emergency department volume of approximately 20,000 visits, this role is ideal for emergency physicians who thrive in a structured, team-oriented environment and are comfortable providing high-quality emergency care across all acuity levels.
Job Responsibilities
• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat acute medical, surgical, and traumatic conditions
• Perform emergency procedures and stabilize critical patients
• Supervise and collaborate with advanced practice providers as needed
• Interpret diagnostic studies including labs, CT scans, and X-rays
• Coordinate patient transfers and admissions when required
• Respond to in-hospital emergency codes and provide airway support
• Collaborate closely with nursing staff, consultants, and hospital teams
• Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical documentation
Qualifications
OR Board Certified in Family Practice with a minimum of 2 years of Emergency Medicine experience
• Active Michigan medical license (required at time of submission)
• DEA registration
• ATLS certification (required; PALS if not EM-boarded)
• Clean professional background for expedited credentialing
• Ability to work rotating day and night shifts
• Recent NPDB self-query report
• Strong clinical judgment and communication skills
Working Hours
• Rotating schedule including days, nights, and weekends
• Typical shifts: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM or 8:00 PM – 8:00 AM
• No traditional on-call responsibilities outside scheduled shifts
